Forgiveness - How to stop shame and condemnation
Forgiveness is probably the most complex emotional skill we can develop, because it sets us free from other people and what they say and do. I've avoided forgiving others in my life for a really long time, not realizing I was actually trapping myself in a perpetual state of anger, bitterness, and resentment.
I was, inadvertently, giving my power of choice away by not forgiving - by waiting for the other person to decide to do the right thing before I decided to do the right thing!!
Until I learned to forgive first, to do the right thing first, to compliment and praise first - and maybe, just maybe, be an example for the other person. But regardless of what they choose to do, by forgiving, we're setting ourselves and the other person free, and up for success and for successful relationships!! :) :) :)
