The Listen horse (Equus ferus caballus or Equus caballus) is a large herbivorous and ungulate mammal with a single hoof; it is one of the species of the family Equidae (Equidae), which evolved over the last 45 to 55 million years from a small mammal with several fingers. In their natural state, horses live in herds, usually under the control of a single breeding stallion. They socialize and rely on their speed to escape predators. Endowed with a good sense of balance, a strong instinct to flee and great spatial visualization skills, they possess a trait unusual in the animal kingdom, being able to go into light sleep while standing. The females, called mares, give birth after eleven months of gestation a small called foal, able to get up and run shortly after birth.

The horse is domesticated by humans. Its use spread throughout Eurasia from the earliest Antiquity. Although almost all horses are now domesticated, there are populations of domesticated horses returned to the wild, including Przewalski's horse. A vast specialized vocabulary has developed to describe concepts related to the horse. This lexicon goes from its anatomy and morphology to the stages of its life, including its color, the different races, its locomotion and its behavior. Most domestic horses are trained for riding or pulling between two and four years old. They reach their full development around five years on average. Their life expectancy at birth is twenty-five to thirty years.

For centuries, horses have been at the service of human beings who select different breeds for traction, agriculture, war or even the saddle. Horses allow the development of trade and the expansion of civilizations over large areas. During the colonization of the Americas, the species was reintroduced to this continent. Considered "the noblest conquest of Man", present in myths, religions, encyclopedias and all forms of art, the horse is, of all animals, the one that has most marked history and the progress of humanity. Trades are linked to its maintenance, its trade and to sports, horse and equestrian activities. In most developed countries the horse is now ridden for recreation or sport. He can be a therapy partner, and tends to get closer to the pet. It produces consumer goods from its meat, milk, leather and urine. In other countries, the horse remains essential for agriculture and transport. The maintenance of domestic horses requires special equipment and the attention of specialists.
