Excel 365 Part 12 – Lookup Functions

Lookup functions will lookup information from a database and return an answer from a different column in the database. They can be used to look up part numbers, Employee IDs, or any field that is unique in the database. If there are many duplicate Lookup Values, it will usually return the first value in the list. There is also a new function called XLookup that allows you to return the first or the last value found. Other Database functions covered that will look up and total information based on certain criteria. These Database functions work similar to the Countif, SumIF and Average If functions, but Database functions consider the entire database when it pulls information.

Section 2: Lookup Functions

The following functions will be covered in the workbook: VLookup, HLookup, Lookup, Match, Index, MatchIndex, XLookup, and Offset functions.

Section 3: Database Functions
Database functions will look up and total information based on certain criteria, Database functions work similar to the CountIF, SumIF and AverageIF functions, but Database functions consider the entire database when it pulls information. The following Database functions will be covered in the workbook: DCount, DSum, DAverage, DGet, DMax, and DMin functions.
