In Icelandic, Gullfoss means “Golden Waterfall”, because, on a sunny day, the water takes on a golden-brown color.
Gullfoss is located on Iceland's Golden Circle Drive which is a circle drive that begins and ends right outside of Reykjavik. Gullfoss Waterfall is located smack dab in the middle of the drive and is about 1 hour and 31 minutes from Reykjavik.
Iceland could be known as the land of waterfalls. There are so many that nobody knows how many there are exactly. In the Winter, some waterfalls can freeze but the larger waterfalls keep flowing. Sightseeing travelers can be treated to fantastic ice features at these waterfalls.
