 What goes on in the mind of someone who wants to die? And what can we do to help? Before becoming a crisis counselor, Charly was a suicidal teen herself. Interweaving data and story, in this session she will shed light on what a suicidal crisis feels like. Charly will share the words that helped save her life when no one else could reach her and why they worked. Combining lessons from the front lines of a suicide hotline and leading positive psychology research, she will guide the group through strategies that can help parents create an open dialogue with your children, enabling you to support them through challenges large and small.

Speaker Bio
 Charly is a crisis counselor, executive producer and award-winning Google change maker, operating at the intersection of positive psychology, mental health and storytelling. She has produced stories for BBC News, ran an Australian yoga school and is the best-selling co-author of Turning Crisis into Success. Charly received a BSFS in International Politics from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Columbia University, where she focused her thesis on media and suicide prevention.
