PAINTING HORSES in a field
In this video I am painting some horses in a field. I have been getting outside a lot in my local area recently to paint landscapes outdoors and get reference photos for studio paintings and I have been noticing the farm animals in the area.
Whilst I am mainly a landscape artist I want to learn to paint animals so I can start dropping them in my landscape paintings. As well as painting tutorial videos I am also going to be sharing some of my art journey with you as well.
This video isn't so much of a 'how to paint' video but more of what I am working on, however I do give you some tips on colour mixing and painting tonality throughout the video. When I get more 'brush mileage' under my belt I shall make some proper painting tutorial videos on painting animals.
This painting originally started as a plein air painting, when I see these two horses as I drove past them in my car. It was a spur of the moment thing but I decided to have a go at painting them. I added more detail to the painting in the studio.
