He didn't have to give up the good life God gave to him. You'll see him praying with others in this video, something he does regularly. He prays with some of his staff everyday in the White House. He is the only president I am aware of that has ever allowed and encourages Praise and Worship services in the White House.

He continues to say things like, "I'm doing it because this country has given me so much, and I feel so strongly that it's my turn to give back to the country that I love.". and "I'm doing this for the people and for the movement and we will take back this country for you and we will make America great again.".
