例の感染症の原因とされるウイルスは、名前から今年外国から入ってきたと考える人が多い。メディアも、このウイルスが新たに外国から入ってきて、感染が拡大したという報道を毎日繰り返している。感染拡大を防止するためとして、マスクや3密を避けるなどの新生活を守る人が多いということも、この考え方を植え付けることに効果を発揮しているかもしれない。
　しかしながら、このウイルスが外国で発生して、今年になって日本で流行するようになったという証拠はない。このウイルスを持っていることが判明した人のウイルス数が極めて少ないために、急速に伝搬することが説明できない。また、身近な複数の人がPCR陽性であるからといって、集団感染が起こったということも言えない。それらの人たちが少数のウイルスしかない場合、もともとそれぞrれの人がウイルスを持っていたと考えるのが自然である。この騒動の問題点は、ウイルスが外国から今年になって入ってきて、急速に広まったという仮説を、絶対的な真実のようにマスコミで繰り返し報道されることにあるのではないだろうか。
　もともと多くの人が持っていた少数の常在ウイルスが、今年になってPCR法で発見されただけと考えれば、何もあわてる必要はない。新たな病気が流行しているというわけでもなく、この対策のために、危険な遺伝子組み換えワクチンや遺伝子合成阻害薬のようなものを使う必要はない。ウイルスと人間の関係は、何千年も変わっていないのだ。健康な人が、今回問題となっているウイルスをまき散らしているというならば、その実証実験をすれば白黒が判明する。単なる仮説に過ぎない「症状のない人が感染源になる」という説を鵜呑みにすることは、将来に禍根を残すことになろう。
