【62】マスクの必要性は科学的エビデンスにより決めるべき - 大橋眞

暑さが増してくる中にも関わらず、マスクを着用する人が多く見受けられます。このマスク着用の必要性に関する科学的エビデンスはあるのでしょうか。
　社会の中で活動している人は、基本的に健常者が大多数です。この健常者の中に、危険なウイルスを撒き散らしている人という考えの元に、マスクを着用している人が多いようです。この考え方は、マスコミの報道に影響されている要素が強いと思われます。しかしながら、本当に健常者がウイルスを撒き散らしているのかについては、科学的な検証が必要です。東京等の都市部においてPCR陽性者が数十名規模で毎日のように報道されています。これらは無症状の感染者として扱われていますが、ウイルス数のデータが公表されることはありません。また、PCR陽性者の飛沫中に、どのくらいのウイルスがあるのかについてのデータもありません。マスク・ソーシャルディスタンスの必要性は、ウイルス数のようなデータに基づいて、専門家の議論が必要です。　
　ウイルス数に関するデータがなくては、専門家も議論ができません。そのためには、国に対してデータの開示を求める必要があります。国に政策を任せきりにするのではなく、必要に応じて民意を示すことが民主主義の精神ではないでしょうか。

Many people wear masks despite the increasing heat. Is there any scientific evidence about the need to wear this mask?
The majority of people who are active in society are basically healthy people. It seems that many of these healthy people wear masks based on the idea that they are spreading dangerous viruses. This way of thinking seems to be strongly influenced by the media reports. However, scientific verification is required to determine whether healthy people are really spreading the virus. Dozens of PCR-positive people are reported daily in urban areas such as Tokyo. Although they are treated as asymptomatic infected individuals, virus count data will not be published. Also, there is no data on how much virus is in the droplets of PCR-positive individuals. The need for mask social distance requires expert discussion based on data such as virus count.
Experts cannot discuss without data on the number of viruses. To do so, we need to require the country to disclose the data. Isn't it the spirit of democracy to show the will of the people as needed, rather than leaving the policy to the country?
