【41】コロナの新型とは何か コロナ騒動の真相に迫る - 大橋眞

コロナ騒動において、新型と命名されたコロナウイルス。何をもって新型というのでしょうか。一般に新型というと、これまでなかった新しいものというイメージを持ちます。そのイメージで、新型コロナウイルスは、武漢で戦略的に作られたとかいう話で、米中対立の原因にもなっています。しかしながら、この新型という言葉は、決してこれまでにこの世に存在しなかったものという意味はありません。米国の遺伝子バンクであるGENBANKには、これまでコロナウイルスとして、基本的に6種類ほどが登録されていました。新型コロナウイルスの名称は、この遺伝子バンクに登録されていない新規の遺伝子として、中国の論文で発表されたことから来ています。本来私たちの体の中には、コロナウイルスが既に無数にあります。これまで特に病害性が強いものでない限り、医学的に重要でないとして、注目されてこなかっただけです。人間だけでなく地球上のあらゆる生物にコロナウイルスがいるといっても過言でないのです。
　このようにこれまで注目されてこなかったコロナウイルスに関する遺伝子情報はありません。新型コロナウイルス検出のために用いられているPCR検査で、私たちが普通に持っている無数の常在性のコロナウイルスを検出するかどうかについては、全く情報がありません。そのために、現在のPCR検査では、ありふれた常在コロナウイルスを検出している可能性が高いということに注目する必要があります。
