In most weight room work done by athletes, the feet maintain contact with the ground.

While there is nothing necessarily "wrong" with this, we have to think of the forces that the feet experience during athletic movements.

Namely, the feet are usually elevated above the ground before driving into the ground to produce force.

"Deficit" movements are a great way to simulate this in the weight room and are a great way to translate weight room work to on-field/court performance!
