Memfis Mafia and Barasaur's Utah Caching Trip 2020

Memfis Mafia and I started 5 years ago doing a long weekend road trip through Utah. We had such a great time it became an annual trip. We have traveled many places, but this year was the year to return to Utah. I don't mean any certain part; I mean pretty much the entire state. Our goals were in this order:
1) To have a safe and fun weekend
2) To gather all the 2000, Year 1 caches, a total of 5
3) Pick off 5x5 challenges and caches we had missed five years ago.
4) Get our Double Fizzy's
5) Click off all the counties in the state for me.

Here is a brief synopsis of our trip.

We left Colorado in our rental car at 4pm on Friday on our trip. After driving six hours on a super dark, moonless night, we checked out the Skin Walker Ranch. We were grabbing a cache and watching for supernatural phenomenon when we notices all the cameras on the fences. Shortly thereafter we were being followed by a couple cars, as I think they were escorting us out of the area around the ranch. We continued to get out of there and on to Duchene county finally getting that county covered after 5 years of waiting and missing it the last time we were in Utah. We ended up being stopped by a gate on the way to Beaver Springs (GC7C) at 1am where we finally retired to sleep knowing we were already going to miss the 1st of our highest priority caches.

Saturday morning, we woke to the beauty of Utah and headed out on our day of caching. We picked off many on our list today consisting of my Double Fizzy completion, a bunch of 5x5 caches, some labs, and 2 more of the 2000-year caches (GC8A and GC9B). We even found time for me to get my hair cut at a family friends new salon. The downside of today was both Memfis Mafia and I could not make it up and down a tree that would have finished his Double Fizzy. We still celebrated with a steak dinner.

Sunday brought more fun as we started the off at dusk on a small hike to get GC80, another year 2000 cache. We also now started our quest of picking off all the counties we needed in the lower half of the state. By midafternoon we had made it to our last year 2000 cache on our list, Wah Wah Stash (GCA8) was now attained in our notes to be logged. All we had left was on our list was getting those counties as we began to work our way home. The zigzagging from county to county as we worked our way across the lower part of the state. We checked off the last county at almost 2am, Monday morning. We went to bed that night in Moab with our mission completed.

Monday was a day of reminiscing of our last few days in Utah collecting memories, celebrating our smiles achieved, mourning our missed opportunities, and driving back home. Below are some of the highlights and statistics of our trip.

1) We covered 2245 Miles in 72 hours, equates to just over 31 miles covered for every hour we were gone.
2) Attained 4 of the 5-year 2000 caches
3) 91 caches plus 23 labs for a total of 114
4) 16 of the 5x5 caches we were after
5) 12 Counties to complete my 1st State of Counties
6) My Double Fizzy
7) 1 cache that has been waiting for over 6 years to be found.
