Explanation of the Sunnah Part 5: The Religion is not from the intellect and opinion

We will not complete the religion with our insights. Allah completed the religion of Islam; it is only upon us to submit to our creator, and abandon arrogance.

Allah, the Perfect and Exalted said:
"And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder." [Qur’an, 23:71]

Whoever chooses to develop nearness with our Creator should not turn away from the reminders in the Qur’an and Sunnah. We must cling to the truth in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (upon whom I invoke peace and blessings).

Allah exalted promised that the Qur’an will always be unchanged. He said: “Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian.” [Qur’an, 15:9]

Personal theories about Islam have no value in this life or the next, they are transient and replaceable by the next generations rhetoric. The Qur’an will always remain unchanged. The greatest scholars of Islam would say that their own opinion is meaningless, and destructive. This is because whoever makes something permissible or makes something forbidden without a proof from the book of Allah or the Sunnah has made himself co-equal with The Creator, the only true Legislator. The most knowledgeable scholar of Islam must only explain the evidences, not fabricate rhetoric. It is arrogance to follow opinion and desire while there were prophets sent with guidance, and books revealed.
