It is your first Job as an Executive Housekeeper, or you have just moved to Manage a New department at another property?

This message explains some starting points and more importantly, some ways to approach the new Department in a methodical and organized way.

All new Executive Housekeepers will make changes but how you make them can make or break the success.

You want a smooth transition from one Manager to another Manager. You must begin to analyze and improve certain systems and procedures. Yes...but you do not want to disrupt or offend a new department.

Building trust relationships as soon as is possible is key. You must become and remain a student of the department. A student of each individual and a student of the Department as a whole.

Before you know what can or must be done or changed, you must fully recognize how the Department is being run currently.

From my experience and history in 4 and 5 star Hotels and Resorts, this method and approached has always worked very well....

People People People...People and relating to People is 80% of the job. Be a student of the property and then when you fully understand its productivity or lack there of....then you can begin to make changes....
