Snake in the Winter

We went hiking today, November 18, 2017. It was a very brisk cold day and the wind was gusting very strongly. Near to the end of our hike, as we were descending the mountain, suddenly Tom said.."Dude.. you seeing what I see?". I turned around noticing that he was staring at the ground. I said, "No... what is it?". I couldn't figure out what he was talking about. He said, "Right there....". Hiding beneath a carpet of brown leaves, there was a glimpse of movement. A little brown snake trying to hide himself. We couldn't believe what we were seeing since it was November and it was cold outside.
