YouTube Censorship, Section 230 and the Founding Fathers

YouTube sent out a notice regarding content that refers to election fraud of the 2020 Presidential Election will be removed from platforms starting December 9, 2020. Ok....but if you aren't person who creates content, why should you care? Are third-party platforms private companies who can censor content how they wish?
