Direct Primary Care

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a retainer-based model whereby the physician is paid directly by the patient in the form of a membership fee instead of charging the patient's insurance company. A large proportion of the costs of a conventional primary care practice go towards coding, billing, and collecting payments from insurance companies. Because of the more direct financial relationship between the physician and patient, the physician is able to see significantly less patients, which allows him to spend more time with patients.
