AG Barr has revealed that he appointed John Durham as a special counsel on the investigations into the origins of the Russia hoax, back on October 19th.

Barr said that he withheld the release of that information given the proximity of the upcoming election, which was at the time just weeks away.

As a special counsel, John Durham is protected by federal regulations that make it nearly impossible for a potentially incoming administration to fire him.

Under federal regs, a special counsel can only be fired for a conflict of interest or misconduct.
