Vincent Fink, a Houstonian native and full-time fine artist is self-quarantining inside his Dodecahedron installation on Heights Blvd. This public performance art statement brings awareness to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the art scene and the resulting struggles with mental health caused by Social Distancing. Fink invites the public to responsibly join him for a series of live performances at the 600 block of Heights Blvd.

After nearly two months of losing sales, shows, and a bit of his sanity, Vincent decided it was time to turn his life back around and, like a faucet had been turned on, work began to pour back in. Now he is planning performances through the lockdown year. More performances are expected to be scheduled and each accompanied by Facebook or Instagram Live streaming for those practicing Social Distancing.

Vincent invites Houstonians to join around the Dodecahedron for these “sit-ins”. He encourages attendees to bring refreshments and face coverings/masks. Fink art-printed masks can also be purchased on his online clothing store: www.point506.com/shop but be aware production time is around 8-10 days and are ship-only.

Vincent hopes to convey a different angle to the narrative that is under-represented in the national community: that of a young full-time professional artist/entrepreneur who has experienced the negative effects on not only the economy but also from a mental health perspective. Isolation is a very dangerous place to be. Especially for artists who tend to be sensitive, deeply in touch with their emotions, and often detached from society. Vincent offers hope to those suffering from depression as he did for his 1st two months of lockdown.

His Dodecahedron is part of "True North 2020" A Heights Boulevard sculpture project in Houston, Texas along with 7 other sculptures installed until the end of the year. Commissioned by Houston Heights Association. To learn more about True North visit: https://houstonheights.org/get-involved/heights-boulevard-art-project/
