"An education system that does not trust the parents should not be trusted with their children."

Shawnee Mission School District "Listening Session" on remote learning. This mom said it’s time to choose courage over fear. It’s time to put our kids first, and it's time for our public servants to serve.

Weeks ago the board pulled what many felt was a bait-and-switch. The board asked the parents if they would prefer to send their kids back to class—assuming the risks—or choose remote learning. Roughly 70% of the families and teachers chose to return to school. Yet the superintendent closed the schools anyway, while bordering districts remained open. Many have had enough.

UPDATE: The school board has gone to remote learning for middle and high school but kept elementary schools open until winter break.
