Episode 65: Cordoba Spain and the Mosque Cathedral

In this episode we get to enjoy our one and only port call during our Transatlantic cruise, and take a day-long shore excursion to the ancient city of Cordoba.

It's easy to see the various influences on the architecture of this city from the Romans, Moors and Christians. One can imagine chariots roaring across the Roman bridge, which was built in the First Century. The mosque cathedral, originally built by Muslims, was large enough to hold 38,000 worshippers. When the Christians finally reclaimed Spain, they thought the mosque too beautiful to destroy, and built their spectacular cathedral AROUND the mosque. It has to be one of the most unique structures we have ever seen.

And finally we strolled through the old Jewish quarter, which had interesting shops, colorful flowers and cobblestone streets.

Join us on our Spanish adventure and get a glimpse of the beautiful city of Cordoba!
