An organized group of criminals were caught on surveillance camera in Oxnard at 5:13AM, early Thursday morning. The crew of 3 pulled up in a light colored 4 door sedan with low profile rims. They brazenly spent the next 25 minutes in a well let parking lot visible from the 101 freeway removing the catalytic converters from 4 vehicles for handicap seniors.

These California mandated smog control devices are being stolen from vehicles throughout Ventura County. While thieves sell these to unscrupulous metal recyclers for scrap value, vehicle owners find themselves shelling out hundreds, if not thousand of dollars for new replacements. Local residents and businesses find themselves hit hard by these attacks in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.
