Deschutes The Ages Geuze Ale with Kyle 4.5/5

Deschutes The Ages from their Reserve series is a Geuze-inspired, multi-year blending with wild yeast. This is a brutally dry sour, very tasty if you like'em like that. Kyle sat in for this one and like myself he loves the sours. Neither of us were disappointed with this brewing. I did do a little research into this style as it is new to me. The descriptions ranged from Funky to Barnyard but I didn't see any of that here. To be honest I was looking forward to the new complexities of that kind of description. The flavor does open up as she warms and this style is recommended to drink between 50-60f, she was a bit under that here.
On the nose Kyle picked up the pear but I didn't, just the sour. Initial hit is very dry, like a kick in the teeth, not bad but fast and hard. She run fast thru the middle literally sucking all the moisture out of your palate and finished up w the acidic tang, dirty but not oily nor unpleasant Kyle has a better palate then I do and was able to get more out of this. He found the pepperiness to be light but there, I never found it. The pear notes are most comparable to a dry cider, again not unpleasant and as for the rest I never found them but it could be due to temperature , she was a bit cold.
ABV is 7.4, IBUs 14 and we called the golden OJ color an SRM of 30 for S&G.
