Beautiful Camping on the Mogollon Rim

Part one of our Labor Day weekend adventure took us to the Mogollon Rim near Happy Jack Arizona. Not quite the terrain you would expect for Arizona but very welcome none-the-less. We were neck deep in the Coconino Forest on FSR300 or "Rim Drive". This road follows the rim cliffs with an occasional weave in and out of the forest. Temperatures were 20-30 degrees cooler there than in the valley.

The Mogollon Rim is a topographical and geological feature cutting across the northern half of the U.S. state of Arizona. It extends approximately 200 miles (320 km), starting in northern Yavapai County and running eastward, ending near the border with New Mexico. It forms the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau in Arizona.
