Narcissists are often the one who detaches from others first. Usually those who have narcissistic traits are detaching from their consciousness, which is why they often lack that along with a lack of empathy. Therefore, some narcissists tend to go into relationships with an avoidant personality and standoffish attitude soon follows after the love bombing phase wear down. Unfortunately, there are many narcissists who are crafty with gaslight techniques that convinces those they target for source supply to take the blame for any discord or detachment. This is often why when narcissists discard and get new supply, those discarded feel obligated to reconcile should the narcissist attempt to hoover him or her back in.
