The Grateful Warrior
We must learn to take a stand for the Gospel, for our world is increasingly hostile to truth. In order to make sure we stay on the straight and narrow pathway, we must learn how to be the grateful warrior: one who is both assertive and thankful. Christians must understand what it means to walk the straight and narrow pathway while assertively declaring what is good and true. Gratitude keeps us looking upward and pursuing God’s will, rather than merely serving our own. We can look to 1 Samuel 24 and see how David was an assertive warrior who also had gratitude for all that God had given him; furthermore, He was grateful for Saul even as he sought to kill David. The grateful warrior walks the path that is merciful and firm, grateful and decisive, fierce and humble, unyielding but not murderous, and most importantly, certain in their motivations to serve the Heavenly Father. (Church of the Nazarene)
