Today we are exploring an untouched 95-year-old hotel that has been my the oldest explore to date.

During the 1920s, Florida experienced a land boom, a period in which tourism was on the rise, and many Mediterranean Revival style hotels were built.
Construction on this hotel started in 1925

The hotel featured six floors of guest rooms, an observation tower, and a series of patios and arcades through an abundance of tropical plants.

The hotel opened in January 1927 with a six-course dinner to celebrate, which attracted over 250 guests. Unfortunately, this was the hotel’s high point as it was only able to stay open for a few years during the Great Depression.

The hotel reopened in 1953 after much-needed updating and remodeling and operated until 1982 after it was sold off to investors that unfortunately went bankrupt and couldn’t finish reopening the hotel.
