Listen to Davis County Attorney, Troy Rawlings, explaining why the state should not be selling voters' personal identifying information. Please listen to it and then "like" the Facebook page "Protecting Utah Voters" http://www.facebook.com/ProtectingUtahVoters

Currently, the Utah Lieutenant Governor's office sells the full voter list to anyone willing to pay. The list was recently posted to the internet and contains voters' personal information, including voting history. This list includes prominent community leaders, police officers and judges (and their families). The Governor and Lieutenant Governor are the exception as their information is typically not included.

HB302 would allow voters to opt-out of such a release. Similar bills have been opposed by media groups, both major political parties, Lexis-Nexis and others who believe they are entitled to voter's personal information even if it intrudes an individual's right to vote to maintain privacy.
