I am LaurieAnn. I Am That GAL©
My entrepreneurial life began really when I was 7. My best friend and I used to pick things out of the garbage during “garbage day” and sell them to our neighbours on our bicycles.
At 13 I created dog shows in the backyard, and fairs and charged admission. I even made my own prizes (sewed stuffed animals, made home made chips, and trophies for the dogs were made of flour and water and food colouring)
When I came out of University I started my career as a Literary Agent and writer. I was VP of the Canadian Authors Association Toronto Branch and Newsletter Editor at the age of 24.
Life took a turn when I got married. I became a wife and mother but still liked having my own business while working for my spouse in the capacity of Office Manager and Marketing Manager.
I owned small sideline businesses such as my Clothing Design company D~Laurz Fashions, a PI Company Techno PI (licensed for 20 years), and likely a few others.
I became the Executive Director of The Enterprise Centre (not-for-profit helping start-up businesses) during which time I not only matched new entrepreneurs to clients (over $400,000 in revenue collectively they generated from my matching) but also coached over 100 new businesses. During that time I volunteered (maybe too much) and received the prestigious Pinnacle Award for Volunteerism and also became the 5th female President in 50 years of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce.
I have had my own Marketing and Finance business for over 30 years, building websites since 1993, social media expert and branding expert, and have created Financial Plans for succesful people.
Some people ask me who marketing and finance match? It’s called having two sides of your mind working at once.
At 47 I bought an Auto Repair business and added a Used Car Sales, Towing, Muffler, and Impound business to the existing shop. It closed down after 3 years in 2010. As I see it, I have not failed, for they say, failing is not trying. I have had my challenges though.
In 2008 I found a University that allowed me to become Certified in this science. I have since become a Masters Certified Handwriting Analyst (first to receive Masters Certification in Canada and third in North America) and Grapho-Therapist, Authorized Mentor and Trainer for Handwriting University International. I have completed from the PRISM Life Design Program directed by Handwriting University International which teaches the skills of NLP and Timeline Management, amongst a few, that marry into the Handwriting and Grapho-therapy.
Life is a journey. We may find things we love and do, but I believe life always brings you to where you should be. “I Am That GAL” is my signature. “Get A Life” is the significance of the GAL. I Am That GAL©
