00:01 i mean it's a really remarkable achievement because by way of
00:04 multiculturalism they can disguise the fact that they are snobs
00:08 and dress up their snobbery with this patina of internationalism
00:13 of openness of multiculturalism of tolerance
00:17 yeah think about it think how clever it is
00:29 i heard this term recently asymmetrical multiculturalism and i thought it was so
00:34 on point so on point as to what's going on with this whole push for
00:38 multiculturalism and what multiculturalism actually
00:42 expresses yeah because so many people who
00:45 espouse multiculturalism say that it's about being open
00:48 and welcoming to foreign cultures and all that crap you know and bringing in
00:51 immigrants and all the rest of it but let's consider asymmetrical
00:55 multiculturalism because that's what's actually going on
00:58 and what's asymmetrical multiculturalism well it's this notion that
01:02 a foreign culture is fantastic and you should adopt the foreign norms and the
01:07 foreign culture the food music this that the other the foreign
01:11 culture is fantastic and it should be protected very
01:15 important to protect that foreign culture
01:17 but the national culture the national culture
01:21 ich the natural culture you can mock it you can belittle it you can be bigoted
01:27 against it even you can't be bigoted against the foreign
01:30 culture the foreign culture wheresoever that foreign culture comes from
01:34 you cannot be bigoted against it you cannot question it
01:37 you cannot judge it but insofar as the national culture is concerned
01:42 oh yeah notice i'm phrasing it i'm talking about a foreign culture and a
01:46 national culture because this kind of asymmetrical
01:49 multiculturalism is happening not just in the united
01:52 states not just in canada not just in france
01:55 or the uk or germany it's happening all across the western democracies
01:59 i'm from chile and in chile we're having this problem
02:03 where people are celebrating the cultures of peru
02:06 and venezuela where a lot of immigrants are coming from because of
02:09 of the economic conditions in chile a lot of people from haiti
02:13 and their culture is celebrated but the chilean culture is being mocked
02:17 relentlessly mocked and belittled the way it's being framed by the way
02:22 is really interesting because they frame it that anything
02:25 foreign is good and you should never judge it
02:28 and if you do judge it if you say that some aspect of a foreign culture is bad
02:33 or something that we shouldn't have in this culture then you're a bigot
02:37 you're a racist you're the bad man but anything about the national culture
02:44 oh you can say whatever you want you can judge it you could mock it belittle it
02:47 well i've already said that but
02:51 what does this really mean what does it you know
02:54 what's going on here notice the people who practice asymmetrical
02:58 multiculturalism who are they they're not the top-tier people
03:03 the top-tier people might spout off this asymmetrical nonsense but they really
03:07 don't belittle the national culture it's the middling people it's the the
03:12 people in the middle classes and the strivers who are trying to go up the
03:15 social ladder and you realize what it's really what it
03:19 really is is snobbery yeah that's what it is you
03:23 don't realize it at first because it's dressed up in this multicultural
03:27 language but it's really class snobbery these middle class people
03:32 they don't want to be confused with the lower class people
03:35 of the native culture of the native country
03:39 they want to be confused with the higher class people
03:42 and so they talk about multiculturalism and how foreign cultures are so
03:45 wonderful and we should bring in more of them
03:47 right but what's really going on it's a mechanism to disguise their snobbery
03:51 to disguise the fact that they look down on the national culture on the popular
03:57 culture the popular culture by definition
04:00 is of the masses of the lower classes the the middling classes lower middling
04:04 and the lower working classes and that's what's going on remember when
04:08 gordon brown a few years ago was caught in a hot mic
04:11 you know he had been confronted by this woman a working-class woman
04:14 in the united kingdom and she was airing legitimate grievances
04:19 they were not that big of a deal quite frankly but she was saying that
04:23 her lot as a working-class woman was really difficult and what was the
04:27 government going to do about it and you know what gordon brown said and
04:30 the hot mic he didn't realize he had a microphone on and he said
04:34 bigoted woman yeah the striver gordon brown
04:37 he looked down on the working-class woman who was airing
04:41 legitimate grievances and claiming that she was a bigot
04:45 she wasn't a bigot she was expressing the problems that she had
04:50 but see gordon brown and people like him the whole managerial class they've been
04:56 educated socialized brainwashed even into
05:00 thinking that anything that affects the local people is just
05:03 bigotry any problem that they have is just
05:06 not important and should be ignored because ultimately what's going on is
05:10 that these strivers are ashamed and they're frightened
05:15 socially frightened of going down the social ladder and
05:18 becoming working class popular class lower class
05:22 i mean it's a really remarkable achievement because by way of
05:24 multiculturalism they can disguise the fact that they are snobs
05:29 and dress up their snobbery with this patina of
05:33 internationalism of openness of multiculturalism of tolerance
05:38 yeah think about it think how clever it is yeah because snobbery we all know is
05:42 a despicable uh um a despicable mode of being it's
05:47 arrogance that's what it is it's a sin that's what
05:51 snobbery is it's arrogance it's looking down on
05:54 people looking down on people because of
05:57 factors that they cannot control but if you dress it up in
06:01 multiculturalism you can crap all over your native
06:05 country you can crap all over your native people
06:08 you can dismiss their justifiable grievances
06:13 you can even try to replace them and it's perfectly fine
06:17 because it's multiculturalism you have to understand something that
06:21 a lot of people don't realize class issues class divides run deep and
06:27 nothing can erase them and the people who are most class
06:30 conscious of them all are the people in the middle upper
06:34 classes because they're not truly upper class
06:37 and they are terrified of becoming lower class they are
06:40 constantly striving and it's quite a large segment it's the
06:44 educated managerial classes and these people they are so frightened
06:50 of sliding down the social hierarchy that they will embrace any ideology
06:55 that will pull them up and they've identified multiculturalism
07:00 diversity all this nonsense as the way to
07:04 cling to the higher social classes to hold on to not slide down
07:11 and become a hoi polloi they're terrified of it
07:14 i mean think of it uh middling guy right he went to a university a fairly good
07:19 university but he took on a mountain of debt and
07:21 because of that he had to get into some job that he kind of hated
07:25 but it pays the bills and paid back the student loans he had to take out and so
07:30 he's constantly striving to maintain his place
07:33 and of course there's a sunk cost fallacy so much
07:36 money and effort and time has been devoted to getting the stupid degree
07:40 and working to pay off the loans and maintaining his position he's
07:44 dumped so much financial capital emotional capital intellectual capital
07:49 that he will do anything not to go back down
07:53 he he he's bet too much on this position he has to continue to play it
07:58 you see that's what's going on at this point you know
08:02 a lot of guys they hit like 30 35 40 and they're too far gone
08:06 they can't wake up and realize what's going on
08:10 they have to keep on striving and so they have to keep on spouting this
08:13 multicultural nonsense as if it's like a real thing but it's
08:17 not a real thing it's nothing but snobbery
08:20 the next time somebody talks to you about multiculturalism and how good it
08:23 is and how crappy the native populations
08:26 are the native people where they live how
08:29 awful they are bring up this issue of asymmetric
08:34 multiculturalism ask them to explain why is it that the
08:36 foreign culture is so fantastic but the native culture
08:39 is so crappy and then asks them if they hate the lower classes of their
08:45 country of their people ask them if they hate
08:49 their own people because they're snobs ask them that
