Cesium Melting

In this video, I take the same 50 gram ampoules of cesium, and display the low melting point of the metal. At just 83.3°F, this metal can be melted with the heat emitted from one’s hands. Of course, like other alkali metals, it is very reactive with air and moisture, which would cause it to violently explode on contact with such. This vial is sealed under argon, and a slight vacuum to keep the metal oxide-free, and safe to handle.
I’ve been an element collector for many years, and love showing off my collection. I hope you enjoy watching the videos I post of my collection!
