Lady Liberty Breathes
(a pandemic poem)

She grieves!

She cries!

She - who is Lady Liberty! She - who is Blessed and Favored by God!

She weeps for the sick and yet cheers for those who fight,

To keep her alive,

Dynamic, Free, and Poised in her Greatness holding her book and raising her torch!

She’s a lady,

She’s fierce,

She won’t fall without a fight, and she won’t agree with lies,

She is too wise,

She is a breath of fresh air to those gasping to get a grip on living in this time,

She is the life force breathing into faces that look to her for help,

And she still stands as a shout-out for the Truth,

She still decrees for others to rest in her land and dance in the Freedom of America,

She still invites those to be comforted near the torches of Truth,

She still stands resolute with her right arm of Justice upheld,

She will never sacrifice the fire of Truth and Justice in her arms for the sleight of hand tricks and lies of imposters,

She never has and never will,

She is eternally and authentically American,

She calls the huddled masses to breathe,

to breathe

to breathe

as many comply with stopping their very breath to

sacrifice their Freedom,

hide behind the masks,

stay far away from their brothers and sisters,

Stand on the X’s, stand in lines,

6 feet away and 6 feet behind,

Never crossing the barriers,

No longer playing

nor daring to improvise,

She grieves,

She cries,

But she will not be denied her position as the lighthouse of Freedom,

She still shouts out to the masses yearning to breathe freely even in their weakness and poverty,

Lady Liberty will not be dismantled,

She stands with a robust and stable Truth forever grafted on her pedestal,
withstanding wars, tyranny, deception, and the plans to snuff out her torch and rip the constitutional baby of Justice out of her arms,

Her tears have made her stronger,

Revelation has made her more determined,

And her people with the DNA of ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’ will not stand down or allow those words to be a lie,

She stands,

She is resolute,

She shouts out “GOD BLESS AMERICA,”

She knows that the Truth and spirit of the country at her feet will not lose its anointed destiny of Freedom to the arrogance of schemers!

She breathes even as she grieves,

She will always stand for Truth and never surrender her position,

And soon her huddled masses will stand elbow to elbow once more to sing,

A united song as they breathe closely together agreeing with the simple fact that the voices of the people will not be silenced.
