ALERT November 2020: Deep Sand on Cathedral Valley/Caineville Wash Road - https://www.nps.gov/care/planyourvisit/conditions.htm
Areas of deep sand exist for about ten miles. Use extreme caution. The road is impassable even with 4WD. Several vehicles have needed assistance to get out of the sand. The sand extends north and south of the turn to the Temples of the Sun and Moon.
OCTOBER 2020: Recovery in Capitol Reef National Park along the Cathedral Valley road near the Temple of the Moon and the Temple of the Sun. We used my 2014 Jeep Wrangler JKU to pull this rented Toyota out of this deep sand. Please be aware of the condition of the road. It had a very soft and deep sand/silt condition and we have been on this road before and it was not at all like this. Check out this video https://youtu.be/bA6PklFgo3s at "Backroad Exploration" and pay close attention at 8 minutes and 14 seconds (08:14). That is the area where we pulled out the Toyota.
