this was a fun trial. i kept population, chemical, fertilizer the same and the only difference was the spacing. one theory behind the 60 inch is more cover crop growth for grazing credits. but the corn stover itself makes good grazing. so the grazing credits between the two trials would be pretty similar and the 30 inch made more money.
the other part of 60 inc is could we build a cover crop or living mulch system where we could have a perennial hay crop with legumes producing nitrogen for rotationally bringing a corn crop with no inputs then go right back to hay.
