Chicago gun violence up as weekend violence leaves 43 shot, 6 fatally across city

The weekend's violence has surpassed what the city saw a week earlier, when 29 people were shot, four of them fatally, over Halloween weekend.

Gunfire this weekend in Chicago left at least four teenagers shot. Three boys, ages 15, 15 and 17, were shot and injured in separate incidents early Sunday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. A 16-year-old boy was struck by gunfire on Friday night, reports said.

Murders in the city are up 50% compared with 2019 and more police are being shot at, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The paper reported how 67 city police officers were shot at this year, while other crimes have dropped by 7%.
