State of America; Down to Gehenna or up to the Throne

Down to Gehenna or up to the throne, he travels the fastest who travels alone. Jude sets before our eyes the deeply different images of two men who were sent to their eternal home without enduring the delay of death. Enoch, a man who walked faithfully with God, was in one moment on this earth and then no more, for God took him that he might be spared the ugliness of death. Likewise, a man named Korah was spared the inconvenience of death; however, his fate was not so celestial as that of Enoch. For he, being a rebel who mocked the providential liberty from God that delivered him out of slavery in Egypt, found a chasm open beneath his feet that took him alive straight to Sheol. These are the images Jude sets in our mind as he calls us to confront the wolves in sheep's clothing that have stolen in among us. (Church of the Nazarene Pastor)
