Lyrics land like left hooks: Introducing Doc, a hip-hop artist whose compelling message speaks to turbulent times. On his debut single, “So PC,” slated for a September 4th audio release, Doc lays it out, as he explains. “Here we are in the land of the free, and it feels like East Germany decades ago. I am passionately concerned about the compromise of freedom of speech in our society.”

Over ominous beats, lyrical cadences are measured and insistent. In the accompanying video, shot in stark black and white, Doc appears as a commanding presence, navigating an urban landscape of graffiti-splashed cinder block with familiarity and assurance.

Cuyama films shot and directed the gritty “So PC” video in the streets of Echo Park in Los Angeles. Forthcoming plans include releasing more audio and video content, and connecting with online audiences through live streaming shows.
