Motorcycle Driver Flown from Accident, GOODRICH, October 30, 2020 - At approximately 3:45 pm on October 30, 2020, a silver Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Jimmy Franklin Smith, 63, of Shepherd, was north-bound on Loop 393. As Smith was passing Dollar General Store, a white, south-bound 2015 Nissan Altima, driven by Lavarius Lee Harrell, 23, of Goodrich, attempted a left turn into the parking lot of Dollar General, but failed to yield to Smith. Smith's motorcycle impacted the front passenger's side fender of Harrell's vehicle. The impact threw Smith from his motorcycle (Smith was wearing a helmet). Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Corporal Ramey Bass and Ashlee White with the Texas Highway Patrol. Smith remained on his back on the pavement, Harrell was physically okay. Smith was transported to a nearby landing zone and was flown by helicopter to Conroe Regional Hospital with serious injuries. Harrell was cited for failure to yield, no insurance, and violation of his driver's license restrictions (restriction: must have a legal adult present in car while driving). Smith's motorcycle was recovered by East Tex Towing out of Shepherd. Harrell's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.

Special thank you: Ken with Ken's Towing
