Bring These Tequila-Soaked Watermelon Wedges to Every Party

Thirst-quenching and oh so delicious, snacking on watermelon chunks is one of the highlights of the summer season. While you can enjoy it a number of ways (cut up in a salad with feta and cucumbers, lightly salted with sea salt) the one technique you have to try is soaking it with tequila. The taste of watermelon margaritas has never been better.

How To Make Tequila Soaked Watermelon
To start, grab everything you need. This includes a small seedless watermelon, triple sec, sugar, tequila (readers suggest blanco tequila or silver tequila), fresh lime juice, and coarse sea salt. You'll also need a small saucepan and a baking sheet large enough to arrange the wedges in a single layer.

Once you have cut the watermelon into 1-inch thick wedges, move over to the simple syrup. In the original recipe, Martha suggests boiling all of the ingredients together, however, to minimize the alcohol evaporation we suggest adding the sugar and water to the saucepan and bringing it to a boil. Once the sugar seems to have dissolved, add in the triple sec and tequila.

Let the syrup cool slightly and pour syrup over the watermelon wedges and refrigerate for 45 minutes. Some readers suggest placing the watermelon on a popsicle stick and placing it in the freezer until frozen if you are feeling like something cooler.

Once the watermelon has infused, place it on a serving platter and squeeze limes on the wedges and sprinkle with salt as a garnish. Add some mint leaves or a jalapeno slice if you are feeling frisky! It's an appetizer that your friends will be begging you to make every day, I guarantee it.
