The question of peacemaking is not a question of whether or not to engage in conflict, but a question of why you engage in conflict. As our nation drifts from God and seeks open war against Him and all that is good and true, Christians must start to ask when to engage in conflict with the world. Is being a peacemaker the same thing as being a pacifist? What does it really mean to turn the other cheek? This is the question of just war theory. Christ is both merciful and severe, and the turning away from evil is an important aspect of Christian living. The church is not called to tolerate evil and sin, and we must stand for righteousness.
