Quinceañera parties, also called Quincedeanos, is the coming out party of a 15-year old girl, signifying her transition from childhood to young womanhood. It is similar to the British and US Debutante balls.

In the older times, girls were taught cooking, weaving, and about childbearing by the elder women in their communities in preparation for their future roles as wives. At the ceremony, a father would present his daughter to potential suitors.

This is a very popular celebration in all of Latin America, especially in Mexico.
