South Africa - Cape Town - 16 January 2020 - Mr. Lin Jing, Consul General of the Peoples Republic of China in Cape Town hosted dignitaries and politicians as well as members of the local Chinese community at an event at the Table Bay Hotel celebrating the Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year is the Chinese festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar. The festival is usually referred to as the Spring Festival in mainland China, and is one of several Lunar New Years in Asia. This Chinese New Year is the Year of the Rat.
