South Africa - Cape Town - 14 October 2019 - An empty Barans/Mesopotamia seating area. Hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers have been camping outside and inside the Waldorf Arcade in the city centre, where the Cape Town offices of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) are situated. They are accusing the organisation of failing to protect them from xenophobia, failing to help get their documents from Home Affairs as well as failing to help them with resettlement in other countries. Local businesses in the nearby vicinity are starting to feel the effects of the large crowd of refugees camping nearby as customers choose to stay away.
