South Africa - Cape Town - 31 October 2019 - The Minister of Police General, Bheki Cele visited an officer who escaped a police operation with his life and is recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery. Warrant Officer Dannie Botha was shot and injured on Sunday in Muizenburg. The 51 year old officer and his partner were responding to a high-jack incident and spotted the missing vehicle parked on the beach road. The two officers approached the vehicle after which one occupant in the vehicle opened fire and shot at Warrant Officer Botha, he was hit several times in the upper body.
