20201016 Identity Includes Choice

Just because you identify in a particular way, doesn't mean there's no preference or choice involved.

You say you're gay? You the result is you probably prefer to have relationships with people of the same sex. If you then carry through with your preferences, via choices, your actions as a result, are indicative of those preferences (and the underlying identification, if you're who you state you are).

So what does that say about terms like, "sexual preference?" In my mind, it makes it so they're totally reasonable and acceptable.

And let's not forget, that a person with a preference toward drug or alcohol abuse, may make choices that keep him or her from being in a consistently altered state. You can argue too, that this is a matter of preference.
