SOUTH AFRICA - Cape Town - Commissioners of Oaths pilot project launched (Video) (hRv)
South Africa - Cape Town - 12 February 2019 - Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Alan Winde, launched a week-long pilot project which sees Western Cape Government volunteers doing duty as Commissioners of Oaths so that police officers can focus on averting crime. The initiative came about as a result of Minister WindeÕs push to get more police on active patrolling duty. Minister Winde certified documents from a Western Cape Government safety kiosk, situated outside the Cape Town police station. He was assisted by graduate interns from the Chrysalis Academy, who are on a year-long paid work placement programme in the Department of Community Safety. Pictured next to Winde in the kiosk is Lee-Ann Mars. Video: David Ritchie/African News Agency(ANA) (hRv)
