Kayak Anchor Wizard with a mushroom

An effective and realy easy to use kayak anchoring system with a mushroom style anchor.

This system looks great do they provide all mounting instructions. And what all comes in the kit, so simple to install and use. You can attach the crank box to gear track or bolt directly to whatever your kayak has. For sea kayakeers that will eliminate some of the anchor problems: problems with Scope, with Corals.

"Watch Videos"

Anchor Wizard do have a very unique pontoon anchoring system. If you didn't find the video link on their website, just click on the "Watch Our Videos" button on the main FB page(facebook.com/AnchorWizard) and the first video that is listed is the pontoon video that they shot this summer.

The video shows how to install the unit, with the "nose piece" actually mounting under the deck. This way you never have to leave the driver's seat to drop or retrieve the anchor, and you aren't tripping on the anchor line with the system essentially working under the deck.

How to Use a Kayak anchor system & Safety

You can made one of these for your kayak - works fine for lakes. But do not use it in a WW river. Not being able to cut away from the anchor is very dangerous with moving water. For moving water attach a drag bag to the anchor point.

You cannot be too safe in fast moving waters when you decide to anchor any boat, let alone a kayak. AW spool system is designed to "free-spool" when you rotate the handle counter-clockwise just a half-turn. This would allow a person to quickly, "spool out" the remaining anchor line on the spool as fast as the current would take the kayak down stream. Also, by not tying the anchor line to the spool directly, you would be able to release from the anchor completely once it spooled out.

Better to lose an anchor than lose yourself. Anchor Wizard are also designing a mountable cutter that the anchor line would run through - in the event that you only have time to slam the button and cut the line, and not fumble around with releasing the spool itself.

Kind of like an "EJECT" button that you slam once and you're free from the anchor immediately. You should always know the limits of your watercraft, you own boating skills, and any body of water you decide to take a float on. Safety is imperative and should never be taken for granted.
