20201009 Like North Korea

Is it reasonable for pretty much anybody in the U.S. to say their life would be in any wise better of safer, if they were just in North Korea, rather than the United States of America?

You'll forgive me as I offer my strong disagreement to such a concept.

I spent a couple of years in South Korea, and frankly, I count most all Americans to be better off than the people in the ROK at the time (granted, I ended my second tour to Korea, in 1990).

There can be little doubt, that the White House correspondent who made a statement to the effect he felt safer in North Korea than in this country, was either being horribly melodramatic, had--if he's been there--a substantially different experience than the locals, or just isn't very smart. Take your pick.

I'm not even willing to speculate myself.

In any case, that's what this video talks a bit about.
