Rumble / Cats & KittensStella is a beautiful cat with a very sad beginning. Her owner dropped her off at the Sherbrooke Heights Animal Hospital in Peterborough. Stella was pregnant and her kittens and died in her womb. She was unable to pass them and she developed a life-threatening infection. She was dying and in extreme pain.

Stella's owner put her in a box and took her to the clinic where he left her on the counter. He put the box down and walked out without a word to anyone. He didn't explain the problem and he took no responsibility for her treatment. But fortunately, Stella had just been given a second chance. She had found a place full of animal lovers who would not let her die without a fight. They quickly realized that she was suffering. An x-ray showed the problem and they rushed Stella into surgery. She was literally dying in front of them. The veterinarian and staff removed Stella's kittens, cleaned her and removed the infection. They put her on fluids and antibiotics and began fighting to keep her alive. Stella was fighting too.

Stella recovered, but she suffered from neurological damage that affects her balance. She is a very affectionate cat who loves attention. She also loves people, and she approaches the clients and staff at the clinic for head scratches and belly rubs. The staff and clients give Stella all the love and affection that she deserves. But Stella has a special friend who loves her so much that she stops at the clinic every day to pet Stella. With the onset of Covid 19 and the restrictions that followed, entering this clinic is now unsafe and petting Stella isn't possible for the time being. This hasn't stopped Stella's friend from visiting though. She comes to the door or window and talks to Stella to make sure she does not feel forgotten. Their friendship will continue and the two will one day be able to meet again without glass between them.

Stella has a very rare genetic abnormality that caused her to have four ears. Behind the functional ears are external ear flaps that are half the size of her primary ears. She does not have extra ear canals or internal ear parts. Stella is a unique cat in many ways!
