20200926 The Means of Production

What exactly is meant by the expression, "the means of production?"

More importantly, when people use the term, do they really understand the path they're going down?

I maintain that the means of production is above all else, people. You can have all the equipment and raw materials in the world, but if you don't have a person who knows how to create the components for an (exceptionally complex) modern-day computer, it makes little difference.

Further, doctors, lawyers, and computer programmers may count on equipment, but they're the ones who make things happen. Without them, the work doesn't get done.

Final thing, when the "means of production" are taken from one group, the hands in which they tend to find themselves in, are those of tyrannical bureaucrats, not "the people."
